Downeast Ice Cream in Bootdbay Harbor

Lots of delicious choices. Got the coffee Heath Bar and it was very good. Not a lot of seating inside but there is a large Swati g area outside on the docks or take your ice cream to the foot bridge.

BEST ICE CREAM I'VE HAD IN MY LIFE.

Do not let the long line scar you away. The staff moves quickly and efficiently and the ice cream is certainly worth the wait. Too many flavors to even begin to mention. This is a vacation tradition each year when traveling to Boothbay Harbor. Love it!

This is the place to visit if you are going to maine they have the best icecream I ever had the too much flavors to choose from at 4 dollars a scoop is worth it because the scoops are huge so visit get a 4 scoop and enjoy

Brownie sundae with sugar free pistachio and sugar free chocolate marshmallow---COULD NOT EVEN TELL THE ICE CREAM WAS SUGAR FREE! Loved every morsel..

We visit every year. Kids can never decide between the clown sundae or the make your own sundae. Homemade from a small town business. It is amazing how many choices are available. Open for summer only.

Visited Boothbay area amidst COVID-19 recently. Was worried I wouldn’t find ice cream! Businesses are suffering and I was pleased to find Downeast open! They are doing a fabulous job following protocol and I appreciate their hard work. Everyone around was being polite and respectful and wearing masks. The ice cream is the best! Thanks for a great treat!

My girlfriend and I have been in Maine for only 3 days and we've visited this place twice already with plans to come back later. They have a ridiculous amount of flavors and I've only tried 5 but they've all been great so far. I'm a huge fan of their brownie sundae and their Elvis Pretzel. Their oreo fudge brownie is also very good. All their ice cream is homemade and it shows. You HAVE to try this place.

We have been going here every summer for many years. All I can say is, "delicious"! We always look forward to it every year.

Would absolutely have given 5 stars if not for the paper straws, absolutely baffling that someone would order straws for shakes that just disintegrate almost immediately on use. I would totally understand environmental concerns if not for the very plastic cup used for the milkshake.Whoever made this decision needs their heads examined, totally detrimental to my and my child's enjoyment today.

Great ice cream! Not your typical tourist trap that every beach/ocean place has. These folks put effort into making unique flavors. The prices are fair and the selection is plenty!

The icecream is homemade and there is a make your ow sunday bar, it is a little short on seating , there is outside seating if the weather allows.

I got a scoop of bailey island which was 3.5 dollars. The flavor and texture were perfect but there was a torn piece of paper that i found in the ice cream and had to spit out.

Good service and plenty of options. Place can get crowded when it is busy. Ice cream was pretty good and worth it for the size. Located right next to the harbor.

Great ice cream and huge scoops. I love rum raisin and this was the best I have had. Went back the next day for the black cherry and it was great ; lots of cherries in the ice cream.

The ice cream is the best. I wish the staff would learn how to smile. The cashier was very pleasant, but the person scooping the ice cream was very cold. Maybe she was just having a bad day, or her customer service training didn't work.

Located on the boardwalk are of shops and restaurants in Boothbay Harbor, the super friendly staff serve some of the creamiest, natural ice cream in the area, made fresh on-premise. Very much enjoyed the Peanut Butter ice cream in a waffle cone, my wife loved the double scoop of Black Raspberry and Grapenut. Highly recommend this terrific small business.

Busy in the summer but REALLY good ice cream

My favorite flavor: chocolate fudge Oreo. Due to violent lactose intolerance I can only have ice cream once or twice a year. This is where I get it.Update: still the best ice cream in the world. My wife now recommends the Elvis Pretzel flavor. Yes, there's always a line, but it moves pretty quickly and the wait is worth it.

I have been going here since I was really little, and in over 20 years they haven't disappointed me. Amazing ice cream, fantastic allergy awareness.

I can not wait to get back to this place! We loved it so much the 1st time, that we went back 2 weeks later. So many flavors. And the flavors are chock full of toppings. I am a hardcore Ben & Jerry's fan, and this was just as good. Super rich and creamy. You can taste the quality. For real, can not say enough good things about this place. So busy, that the line was out the door when we went, but it moved along quickly. And they had a serve yourself water cooler. I was thankful for that because ice cream makes me thirsty for water!

I came in this week and enjoyed some amazing ice cream, and the staff was super sweet. However, as I sat and ate my ice cream, I over heard a man (who I assume to be the owner) raise his voice at a younger female employee. The conflict went on for a few minutes. The girl was almost in tears. It was very unsettling for my wife and me. I hope the staff isn’t regularly spoken to like that! Other than that, the shop, ice cream, and customer service was great.

Be warned, the portions are huge! Great range of flavors.
